August Black, artist and software developer who produces for radio, sound, film and software, will be presenting a lecture/workshop for class on Wednesday evening this week. August will be beaming into our class from his studio in San Francisco, where is a developer for Cycling ’74, the software company that created Max/MSP/Jitter. August is the author of MaxURL, a powerful Max object that is used to appropriate Web content via online API’s. August will talk about this work, and will lead us through a tutorial on the use of Max and MaxURL.
IMPORTANT: please make sure you download Max/MSP/Jitter from the Cycling ’74 Website prior to class. Also install it so we are ready to go when August joins us. You will be able to use Max with the 30 day trial. You do not need to purchase it, unless you choose to, though you will probably want to after you see what it does!
