Project 1b – Text and Image

Some say the world will end in fire,
Some say in ice.
From what I’ve tasted of desire
I hold with those who favor fire.
But if it had to perish twice,
I think I know enough of hate
To say that for destruction ice
Is also great
And would suffice.
– Robert Frost
Fire & Ice full
In an apocalyptic world which Frost imagines, Fire and Ice are personified as a woman, deep in slumber, tranquil amidst the seemingly catastrophic downfall she brings upon the world. She could choose rather, which way things would go from here, as all these lie within the confines of her imagination. The world would still be there when she awakens. But her mind would have transcended reality. She could be anyone you choose, it all matters on which.
This image is composed of a digital illustration layered on top of two manipulated photographs in the background. Fire and Ice are two extremes and very different, hence the sharp dividing line in the centre that separates and juxtaposes the two together.
