Tiffany, the link to your video seems to be dead. Also, I had asked everyone to write a short description. Please see the assignment. Thanks!
Also, be sure and include some description in these brief assignments.

The aim of my live broadcast on Facebook was to get through completing a drawing on Photoshop while the “Skype Laughter Chain” YouTube video played in the background without laughing. I have stacked three webcam video captures on the left side on the screen to allow my viewers to see my reaction, the YouTube video and Photoshop placed in the Read more →

Excellent! I like the way you blended play/seriousness to show the wide range of the artistic process.

▀▄▀▄▀▄ Original ouvere of overall OBS object ▄▀▄▀▄▀

My experiences eloquently expressed are already alienating average audiences online. As I systematically started streaming solemn stuff sardonically, I pondered upon partaking in petty  pandering practices, particularly in putting pretty pictures that are politically pleasant, whilst putting potato pieces in patiently.

‘Oh man’ I thought, when I found out we had to go ‘live’ again. And oh my, it’s using some new unfamiliar software – how am I gonna wing this?! These are some honest thoughts I had when I first found out about going live, streaming our desktop misc-en-scene and being potential glitch artists.

However, it was helpful that I’m been Read more →

When you complete the Facebook Live video, be sure to post it to your timeline, embed it in an OSS post, and write a short description about the overall experience. What was it like to share your personal desktop space? Did you receive any reaction in Facebook? You might want to consider broadcasting your Facebook page so you can rebroadcast Read more →

You did a very nice piece with your first attempt at using OBS to broadcast from the desktop. This was just practice so don't worry if you are still learning the software. It will only get better! Also, be sure your links are active even if they don't embed the way we expect.

First off, the introductory first minute was a very accurate description of Cates’s intent of his work and it already set the context to the nature of the work. Read more →

I particularly liked this statement of yours:
In a sense, the computer can be a parallel for the human mind in that data can fail and does not always survive as a whole.
Yes, data functions much like the mind, and in fact, data is really a manifestation and product of the mental process. And yes, the inclusion of Rosa Menkmann does conjure up a feeling of nostalgia. You must have remembered that we studied her work two years ago. Interesting to see it pop up again in the piece by Jon Cates. Very good research and description.

We were tasked to do a 10-min desktop mise-en-scene:

For my desktop live, I switched around with music tabs and my natural desktop activities, but mainly played another live stream from Sweden, as I wanted to experiment with a live within a live. The lag time was doubled; from Sweden to my computer and then to Facebook. It was interesting Read more →

Research Critique: Bold3RRR by Jon Cates

@ Amazing Anam

Bold3RRR is a performance piece by Jon Cates that “combines art with real-time rendering across international timezones in fragments, errors, and overlaps”. Jon managed to display what he deems as “dirty new media” using the space bounded within his desktop screen and design it in a way where it all comes together as a cohesive visual. In Bold3RRR, he Read more →

Good work Anam. You are absolutely correct that the work is demonstrating the way in which machine errors occur, software as well, but showing how these errors can be employed creatively. Good point that the various media elements on the desktop constant virtual props. The relationship between the glitch and how it associates with reality could perhaps use some additional explanation. And also, be sure that any phrases you use drawn from a source are put in quotes, such as: "real-time rendering across international timezones in fragments, errors, and overlaps." I think this is something Cates said that should be referenced accordingly. Nice piece!
