Some interesting research points here! I think the multi-tiered crab mouth might be something fascinating to look into also hair-like scent sensors could be a feature in your final combined kinetic beast.

Thanks Fran for the doggie doodles! You could actually home in on one of the doggie body language positions & explore that movement. Funny how in your caricature of the flea seems rather oversized compared to the dog, exactly like JJ’s flea model! Lol!
As mentioned during class, I think it would be fascinating if your combined kinetic beast can demonstrate seeing the world through a dog’s lenses or makes use of the flea’s thermo sensing capability.

Thorough & interesting research material here. Succint range of movement diagrams too... Try to incorporate more of this material into the combined kinetic beast model. As mentioned, the undulating & shifting sand movements of the “invisible predator-like starfish” encroaching upon the anemone could make an interesting overall storyline... the regurgitation of digestive fluids to drown out the prey before ingestion could be another interesting point to tweak...perhaps hyping up the sense of touch?

I think your very interactive cow digestive tract sketch model is an interesting angle to start with the kinetic beast exploration. Do avoid being too carried away with the gaming aspect of it though. We don’t really want to restrict ourselves to any specific function just yet. Focus on the kinetic mechanism first. Next challenge would be to combine it with Daphne’s bat kinetic explorations. Explore & see if the micro chewing/ grinding motion of the cow can lead you anywhere.

Colony Behavior

Naked mole rats are rodents, but they live in communities like those of many insects. Several dozen rats live together in colonies led by one dominant rat—the queen. As in some insect species, the queen is the only naked mole rat female to breed and bear young.

Worker animals dig the burrows that the whole clan inhabits, using their prominent Read more →

Do include some sketches demonstrating the range of motion of the pygmy mole rat as well as its skeletal structure or even zoom in on their teeth gnawing motion Jiaying. Thanks!

Pdf version: Kokopelli_Flash More on research and process can be found here: https://oss.adm.ntu.edu.sg/am0002in/project-2-kokopelli/ https://oss.adm.ntu.edu.sg/jchen043/002-kokopellis-sound-shaper/

Fantastic photography (and model ;) and detailed origami-folding sketches... I think it would be great if you could briefly explain or relate your choice of material to the 3 KEY sound lexicon & perhaps the perspective image of Kokopelli could actually be Amanda instead of a generic Kokopelli? Since she already appears throughout the presentation? The generic Kokopelli looks rather incongruent in comparison ... (TT;)

Hi Cheryl, thanks for your feedback! We have changed and edited it!! Please see^

What is Kokopelli?

A fertility deity originating from Hohokam, Yumam, and ancestral Pueblo tribes. Often depicted as a humpbacked flute player, there is a myth that he can be seen on the full, waning moon.

Thanks Sihui for the diverse avalanche of HIP & MOUTH video sources;) Thanks for covering the frog & human hearing research as well although I do recall asking for similarities between the two... To be honest, I cannot quite tell the difference between your 2 initial attempts at making the unpleasant & pleasant sound fabric... the folding for the stairwell echoes seems more structured than that for the pebble sound..?

Who is Kokopelli?

Kokopelli is a fertility deity.  Like most fertility deities, he presides over both childbirth and agriculture. He is  usually depicted as a humpbacked flute player. Kokopelli’s flute is said to be heard in the spring’s breeze, while bringing warmth. It is also said that he was the source of human conception. Legend has it, Read more →

Some good solid research Jiaying!:) Would have been great if some of the Range of Motion spine diagrams were incorporated in your final pair Kokopelli layout.
