Draft 2 of our presentation template.

Project title is not confirmed. As for the prototype, we are currently working hard on it and will be giving an update on Monday. 🙂

Thank you for reading.

ok, maybe you can work more on the renderings to make them a bit more attractive the second row of drawings are not necessary, you could replace with some orthographic drw with overall dimensions of the entire installation if you are around tomorrow we can have a quick chat
Hi Fabrizio, we will be available after 4pm tomorrow.
yes, look for me at 4pm

Week 12: Joint Development

@ /kaywerlyn

This week we made some changes to the shape of the joint as well as the concavity of the bone where the joint would be connected at.

As you can tell we made the shape of the joint rounder and the area where the joint will be connected to the bone was also made rounder to fit the joint. This design Read more →

Week 11/12 Development: The Improved Spine

Kaywerlyn

Monday, Apr 09, 2018 - 10:27:36 pm

@ /kaywerlyn

Hello.

After discussions with Fabrizio and Ker Siang we decided to create a joint that fits the form of the bones and at the same time act as a pivot to rotate each bone. We realised that with a fixed position and shape of the spine it will be a problem if the sculpture were to move places, and with some Read more →

Spine week 11 progess

@ Rachel Fong

After consultation last week, we decided to subtly increase the radius of the edge of the chair and its curve according to its increasing height.

Also, we experimented on a few organic forms of the joint.

Joints of different width

Trying out different curves at midpoint of joint

However, after many attempts of experimenting we feel that Read more →

Week 8: Part 3

After the feedback, we decided not to elevate the sculpture/seating as it is not feasible. Also, after getting comments on how the previous sculpture looked more rigid and that each module looked exactly the same, we tried to make each seat more organic and they were specifically made individually. Hence, every seat is of different sizes and form.

the simplified bottom flat shape looks ok. Maybe, if you didn't yet, you can explore to create a cavity on the flat sides the link is good, it will keep order between the pieces, how do you want to achieve it? same material or different? the renderings locations are not so exciting (it might be the focal lens) we can try to find some better locations

Week 8: Spine Form Progress

Monday, Mar 12, 2018 - 06:01:00 pm

@ /kaywerlyn

Previously there were suggestions to elevate our form and simplify it so this week we decided to do a mock up and try to elevate it using Plasticine and a metal wire (which did not look like it was elevated). In the end we decided to use Rhino and cad out the form, and tried to render it with a Read more →

the minimal design could be fine but I really do not understand how you want to elevate the spine you're not showing any possible solution in your rendering, please explain

Week 8 ( Progress)

Rachel Fong

Tuesday, Mar 06, 2018 - 12:14:49 am

@ Rachel Fong

After getting feedback on how the sculpture had lost a sense of  “wholeness”  and became more modular and repetitive, lacking the sense of continuity and inter-connectivity, we had to think of ways to make the sculpture repetitive and connected  but not too literal (as of what we did for the previous sculpture). Hence, we decided to explore more Read more →

I can see some progress, good. the elements sticking out on the side look fragile, maybe you can integrate a bit more. please, continue to explore the shape in this direction. what kind of material are you thinking to use? if I can suggest, I would look into ceramics or concrete/ceramics combination

Okay, we will try to integrate the side part and go towards this direction. Thanks for the comment!
