@ Alvin Ling

Refrain/Reflex is the exploration of the inter-connectivity between music and different feelings and emotions. The way we feel is directly affected and co-related by what we hear.

Refrain/Reflex is an audio/visual piece which aims to translate that experience.

Inspired by the use of portals and the way they are a gateway to different bodies of emotion, we have represented the way we Read more →

Progress

As a development from this demonstration render, we decided to look into details. In this case, more elements have been added into the composition, such as the silk and background.

At the same time, we cleaned up the outline of the main character to fit it in the flattened style that we want to achieve.

After finalizing the look Read more →

Connection - Final

@ Jiaqi

 “Connection”

The given theme was “Music”  thus our art direction was influenced by it.

Music to us was a form of connection that is made up by rhythm and therefore we wanted the audience to be able to enjoy music by creating a flow which syncs with their visual senses.

Playing with lines, speed and light. We were able to compose a silent Read more →

Enso | FINAL

@ lou's journal

Kindly click here for the final video! Enso draws parallels between the seemingly paradoxical concepts of Ensō and our interpretation of music; where Enso represents both the universe and the void while we interpret music as the culmination of both sound and silence. In this work, Enso is used to symbolise music, with the movement of the particles representing the movement Read more →

@ rebe0009

How does outer space sound like? Celestial Bodies is our interpretation of sounds in space that are created by electromagnetic vibrations from objects in the galaxy. It is an abstract representation of how celestial objects interact in space, and have elements of time travel and space warping.

Here is our final version of Celestial Bodies for MAN Read more →

@ Look alive, sunshine

Where we are now and where we were in the beginning of the sem are pretty different from what we planned.  But that’s probably the whole point.

The initial idea was the use of C4D but we had to be pragmatic about it so we switched to After Effects instead, with the help of Trapcode Particular.

CONCEPT

Our concept is to illustrate Read more →

Jellyfish | a mid semester review

Jellyfish, by Eduardo and Nasya

Initially, I had the idea of using a chrysalis to represent the theme for passing. My initial reasonings and ideas can be found in my slides here!

After talking with Eduardo, I realised that the idea of a chrysalis is way too literal. Eduardo offered a compelling suggestion: the famous immortal jellyfish!

Also known as turritopsis dohrnii, Read more →

@ Darrenjh

Hello everyone!

Sadly enough, after the presentation, we decided to rethink our project.

Looking at the storyboard and our progress so far, we felt restricted by the subject matter and by the style that we had chosen.

We decided to work with our strengths in illustration and motion graphics and tried rethinking the direction of our project. We Read more →

like your new idea! please look into works of Chris Burden and his Metropolis II (2010) a complex, large-scale kinetic sculpture..you could use it for inspiration to make the city background a bit more dense..might be a lot of work but you could possibly have same scene just change in light; this is just an idea- you do not need to follow if you have plotted your roughs already. :) looking forward to next week progress.
