Can you imagine sharing your own personal computer to a stranger? You will definitely be uncomfortable because there are sensitive information in your computer, plus all your secret is there in your history page!

But that was what exactly Eva and Franco Mattes did in Life Sharing. They open up their computer to the whole world. They made each and every Read more →

Research Critique : JenniCam

@ Real life

Jennicam was started by Jennifer Kaye Ringley who was considered as someone who pioneered the idea of livecasting.  She was 19 years old when she did her first live show in 1996.

In 1996, many people had just started to broadcast things on their webcam. However, no one was in the footage . People would post things like the footage of a Read more →

You have your own youtube channel right and you speak in front of the camera as though you are speaking to your viewers, do you feel that you directly talking to them despite the delay of response you will get(due to editing, uploading and sharing), like how webcams have this delay as well.

Micro-Project: Glitched Abberations

These experiments were really fun to make. The results are all really unpredictable. I chose a variety of images (slightly overexposed, dark, greyscale, etc) to edit and see what effects I can achieve from the experiment. I took screenshots each time I make an edit to the text file, so here are some of the process shots. I’m glad I Read more →

I love the results!
The way the greyscale image turned out was amazing, all that colour! Also, I though it was an awesome idea to just glitch the top of the image, then the bottom. It gave me more insight as to how the code works than my own haphazard scrambling of the code and gives some control and purpose over the outcome.

First of all, I must apologize for the delay in posting this up. I had some problems posting this up online as the files constantly ended up in quarantine due to my firewall setting that I had set in my desktop. And when I managed to get it out and open it with Photoshop CC, photoshop no longer recongizes it Read more →

Rosa’s method:

I used Rosa Menkman’s suggestions of how to glitch a photo using audacity. This is because I didn’t have a Mac at the time and wanted to play around with the glitch straight after class on Thursday.

I used this already strange image.

My favourite part was playing around with the colour channels, however the Read more →

Final Project update

My idea is about merging the first and third space.

In this idea I would interact with the viewers in the third space by answering questions, drawing etc. However I myself would have no direct contact to the third space. I would be standing on a big piece of paper with a camera videoing me but I would have no access Read more →

Very interesting idea! In other words, your contact with the third space space is mediated by someone in the first space, rather than the screen. Is this a way of preserving the integrity of the first space? Not losing your sense of presence in the first space? I look forward to discussing.

Final Project Update 1

My idea for my final project is to do a live review of a soccer shoe. The problem is that there are already many videos on YouTube that provide comprehensive reviews about soccer shoes. It’s pretty much advertising the product and explaining its features for people who are considering whether or not to buy the shoe. What I want to do is Read more →

What is interesting about this project is how it addresses one of the most everyday objects in our lives: the shoe. Like many advertisements, selling a product is often more about show how we live with a product. Showing why the product has some form of meaning. So if you were to track the movement of your shoe, a kind of "shoe cam" then we would be not just following your shoe, but you the person wearing the shoe, where the shoe takes you, how it propels your movement, and in the end, we not only see a review of the shoe, but your relationship to it, what it means to you. I look forward to discussing!

My previous idea stays put but in order for me to develop it even further, I need to know the how final broadcasting is going to happen. I guess I need to know what I can do and what is not possible. Will I be accessible to Max/Msp? Can I broadcast wirelessly through a mobile camera while still broadcasting through Read more →

I really like the idea of escape or flight and how it relates to live broadcasting, the ability to distribute oneself remotely outside of a locale. Look forward to discussing!

This is the original picture I used – a screenshot of my Google homepage. I thought it would be interesting to scramble up the ‘code’ of a website.

I made 3 versions of glitched images, each one building upon the previous one. For some reason, all 3 images looked different when I opened them on Preview or on Photoshop. I Read more →

i like how the original image and the final glitch image is totally unrecognisable. This shows not to judge a jpeg by its text. HAHAHA
Haha.. I like the way the glitches and distortion are very linear. Reminds me of the TV losing its reception when I was very young!

I followed exactly what randall wrote in the step by step manual.

Guess what, it was successful! I was really happy with the results! Below are my process. Starts with the original image.

Start slow, blue glitch is visible on the bottom.

Tried more daring copy and paste action.

And more daring moving up and down copy and paste action!

Yes, opening on preview and on Read more →
