Managed to pick up a box of Vacuum Tubes for a steal. Think they can become a huge part of my analog aesthetics and circuitry. Phased out since the induction of transistor in the 60’s, the majority of electronics included vacuum tubes back in the days. They are still relevant to modern day audiophiles as only the most premium amplifiers still Read more →

abstract

The work aims to explore the concept of monstrosity in a world of mundanity, creating a hyperbolic dystopia that brings to light the horrors of the everyday. Drawing from the sensational Sada Abe Incident that spurred the ero-guro-nansensu movement in 1930s Japan, the work is a experimental illustrated narrative that reinterprets hellish landscapes, situations and characters.

School is ending in less than a year, and with that also brings an end to the comfort zone of predictability. The uncertainty of the future along with the expectation set upon by the years of conditioning by the Singapore culture of “kiasu-ism” and “kiasi-ism” scares and worries me greatly. At the same time, I am 25years old, a quarter Read more →

School is ending in less than a year, and with that also brings an end to the comfort zone of predictability. At the same time, I am 25years old, a quarter of a century,  I feel lost, directionless and fearful of the unknown that is the future. To tackle this issue, I decided that my existence would be where my Read more →

FYP Abstract draft 1 : Analog Future

Allan J.C. Chan

@ The Allan Show

As we made the transition from analog to digital media, the quantifiable receded to the backdrop and everyday processes became more metaphysical and unknowable than before. This has shaped a new generation of instantly gratified technophiles.

My installation looks at more primitive technologies that first made us challenge and draw clear distinctions between representational sound and imagery and the material world Read more →

Found some references purely base on of how artists deal with LED screens in an enclose space.

Aram Bartholl – Full Screen

The colours are inhabiting the space with the help of the white walls. I felt that it actually helps to create a coherent atmosphere in relation to the graphics on the screen.

Leo Villareal – Field

Both examples are screens that are Read more →

The arrangement includes six exceptional exhibits from the world of sounds and acoustics. At first sight looking trivial, each object incorporates a very unique ability.

The magical character of each object is accompanied with a little story, almost completely concealing the existence of technical components such as speakers or sensors. Only small connection ports as well as the uniform black Read more →

@ sgoh013

Ann Veronica Janssens is a light artist that works with colour, fog and other materials to create experiences that help viewers to perceive themselves and their surroundings. Somehow her works reminded me of James Turrell and Olafur Eliasson as both also deal with colour, light and space.

Yellowbluepink is an installation from the States of Mind exhibition that experiments with colour, light and unscented dry Read more →
