Tiffany, I really enjoyed your analysis of the mind-body split in the third space. There is indeed a great deal of ambiguity and confusion as to how our physical and psychological selves are separated when we engage with others virtually. This is the reason we carry out this experiment in the first place, to better understand this split in our everyday use of social media and digital communications. This is an idea that we will be exploring throughout the semester and in our final project.

You really extract the essentials from the articles and even provided more detailed information on the materials .The real novelty here is that the conductive elastomer composites perform piezoresistive properties when a deformation is applied and can be integrated into fabric or other flexible substrate to be employed as strain soft sensors.

We are so lucky to have you in the class to provide such strong technological expertise, so essential to the course's integration of art and technology. One suggestion: be sure and include specific quotes as references from the articles themselves. It was helpful that you quoted the summaries we provided, but it is also important to quote directly from the essays, particularly where it supports your observations.

Galina is the expert in this area and she will provide you with more specific comments regarding the content of your essay. But I would like give you a few recommendations for your research critiques: (1) Be sure and provide a quote from the essay, and use that reference to support your comments. (2) It is helpful to provide media (images) and links to help illustrate your comments. (3) I would also suggest that you do more summarization and attempt to synthesize your response. Don't be afraid to include your own comments, questions about things you didn't understand, and personal reflections on the essays. I thought your conclusion was most interesting because it reflected an original observation on your part. In other words, you don't need to just repeat things that are stated in the essay, but rather, provide a personal response that indicates what you are thinking about including your reflections on the essay. We can discuss this further in class.

Gladys, I agree with Galina, these were complex essays and you did an excellent job extracting many of the key ideas and technologies. I am also pleased to see you are using images and links to illustrate your observations. I do recommend that you also quote from the essay to illustrate your ideas, providing specific references rather than just paraphrasing the text. And don't shy away from indicating your own personal observations, responses, and even questions about things you didn't understand. But overall this was very well done.

Feliciana, I agree with Galina and Yuhao, the conclusion was particularly strong, and exactly what I would like to see in the research critiques. You demonstrated a good grasp of these highly technical essays, but I am also encouraging students to comment with personal observations, your own reflections on the use of smart textiles and wearable technologies as described in the essays, from your own point of view. I know that you are personally interested in wearables: how did these essays stimulate your thinking about smart textiles and electronically fabricated garments and the problems that are posed? Lastly, it is always helpful to specifically quote from the essay to support your thoughts, so you are not just paraphrasing.

Thank you for your feedback! I'm currently using the theme called "Independent publisher". I customise it and the background is a photograph of some of my collection of items at home laid out and edited. I was inspired by the design of weird horror movie websites and 90's websites haha

The virtual embrace is about touching virtually. There is no tactile sensation. However the virtual space connects two or more people together in a shared environment. In this space, we can manipulate space, scale, colour and even edit ourselves.
