Qi Boyan, an FYP student of mine from engineering, has created the first custom OSS theme made by a student. She is very interested in having students try it out and has written a tutorial. Not only does the tutorial explain how to activate Plum Blossom as your theme, but it also teaches you quite a bit about applying and customizing themes in WordPress.
