@ peng0060

The visit it to CCA is an exciting one. Not only are we able to see the exhibits by Joan Jonas, we also learnt how art infrastructure and organisations are maintained in Singapore.

Joan Jonas’s exhibition was out of a world experience as it makes audience relieve ignorance, oblivion and naivety. Her works shows the interactions of children and their perspective Read more →

Guest Lecture: Justin

Josephine

@ Josephine

The guest lecture with Justin was a really good experience and it really opened my eyes to the reality of the gaming industry. As much as it sounds fun and exciting to be a part of the industry, Justin also tells us that there is a lot to think about and that there is a lot more that is required to Read more →

Good comments. I agree that much of the BFA is insulated from the "money realities" that you are likely to encounter afterwards. The Project Dev&Plan course aims to open up, at least a bit, towards such matters. Having Justin Tan in as guest speaker was, I think, a bit of a reality check for most - and a healthy reminder for some that academia isn't everything.
Re-reading your writeup/report after reading your asg. You seem to have been very inspired by JT and ideas for a fashion game have taken full flight. Besides the overall pixel art aesthetics, I'm not sure how much it relates to the original CubeTractor game, but this is a smaller concern. Glad to see your creative juices flowing.

Assignment 3 Part 1

@ Josephine

For my first idea, it is actually something I was thinking of pitching for my part-time job at Red Bull, which  would be to create a freshmen care package for the incoming NTU freshmen. As of now they have a moving-in package for those staying in halls but not across the faculties. I am proposing to make a small booklet of Read more →

Pitching of Projects Assignment 3 Part 1

Angel

Thursday, Apr 07, 2016 - 02:59:52 pm

@ Real life

Here are some of the projects that I would like to pitch:

Brainwave wonderland

This project would be exploring on controlling things with the mind. The installation will consist of doing several tasks with just the power of our minds. We could light up a room of even create a light show with our brainwaves.

The budget that I might need is maybe Read more →

Hey Angel! I've always been a fan of theme parks so I find your idea quite cool. This video may help to relate (although I'm not sure if you're going to work on the park alone or rides included!) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2IASj7qvCjg I personally feel that VR can be personalised too, as individual holders of the device, probably you can think of themes to suit the age groups. LoOoking forward~
Interesting to read your "Brainwave wonderland" idea. There's a field called BCI (brain-computer interfaces) where quite a few music tech people are active. Check http://www.springer.com/us/book/9781447165835. I'm currently joining a research team with people at A*star (brain research + EEG + music app --> autism therapy) and there might be a role to play there for someone keen on these matters.

Intro

For the first part of assignment 3 we were asked to come up with 5 ideas. Here are my ideas in less than 20 words.

Idea 1 : A digital graphic novel. Whats to special about this graphic novel is that it is done entirely in moving pixel art GIFs. This hopefully creates a Read more →

Good. 1 & 3 could be combined - what is your narrative idea (synopsis)? Maybe 4 & 5 are also possible to combine - how would it work, and how would you make people participate? Indicate which of the five are intended as group works
Hi Permagnus! I have updated the group projects and such. With regards to the narrative idea I was thinking of doing adaptations of Aseop Fables. Or sort of a slice of life story following a standard 3 act structure.

@ The Anatomy Of Life & Death

It was really interesting and in fact very shocking to hear that a game needs that much of money to develop and to put it out in the market. The gaming world is no fun and games after all. Get it?

As much as Justin wanted to leave on time, he was very open to his knowledge and Read more →

In order to let users addict to the game, knowing user experience is very important. Can you share with us how to maintain users’ curiosity when they play the game?

The One With The Justin Bieber I Mean Cubetractor

@ The Anatomy Of Life & Death

Cubetractor looks like an interesting and addictive game! That is why I didn’t start playing!

Anyway, I have a couple of questions for Justin.

Which is more important? Art & Design aspect or the Programming aspect? Or how much percentage of each makes up an 100%? How would you defend gaming in general when gaming has such a bad influence Read more →

Game Design talk by Justin Tan

@ C I N D Y

Here’s one of my question for Justin after looking at his works:

What are the main challenges that you faced as a game designer? And more specifically, the challenges faced while designing ‘Cubetractor’?
