Excursion this week!

This week Thursday 24 March our case study is an excursion to the Centre for Contemporary Art at Gillman Barracks, a.k.a. CCA. I’ve arranged a bus to take us from ADM Lobby 4.15pm (sharp!).

One of the CCA curators, Ms Syaheedah, will meet us at 5.00pm and take us on a tour. I’ve asked if she might give us some ‘behind the scenes’ info on the following questions: Which are the Singapore’s national support structures for budding artists, e.g. via CCA, MDA, NAC?; What does it take to prepare a ‘successful portfolio’ and send it in to grant bodies, residence juries, competitions (national and international)?; What are the current and upcoming possibilities at NTU-CCA, including the graduate studies program?

After the tour, we will meet up with Zulkiflie Mahmod a.k.a. Zul. He is currently in residence at CCA, http://ntu.ccasingapore.org/residencies/zulkifle-mahmod/. Zul is one of the foremost installation artists in Singapore today. I have asked Zul to present his approach to being an artist in Singapore today. less on artwork in itself and more on the practical side of managing schedules, budgets, and successful execution of a project. To prepare, browse Zul’s webpages at https://zulmahmod.wordpress.com/, and read this interview article from 2014: http://econtact.ca/16_2/lindborg_singapore.html

The visit will end around 7pm, and return travel this time is by own your own favourite means of transport.
