Here are my mark making tools:
1. I wound together a ball of wool and wound more thing string on top of it to create more textures with the print.
2. I tore up gift paper into small pieces and bunched it all together to form a “paper brush”

However, unlike the inspired mark making tool, this tool was less controllable in terms of what markings it left. Unpredictable even which was what i was aim for.

Below are drawings of lines using a traditional medium, a pen.
The rigidity that is found in Mondrian’s De Stijl paintings is intriguing, being that rigidity, for me, symbolises suppression – a trigger for fear or uneasiness. I also played with the tones of the boxes created by lines through thinner or darker lines.

I used different ways to leave marks on the paper, stippling, brushing it across a straight line and also kind of like brushing it in the “S” form. It all gave different patterns and marks.

My Mark Making Tool

This is my mark making tool that I made. So what i did was taking an old paintbrush and attaching two different types of feather at either side on the end. One was a slightly sturdier feather like that of a chapteh whereas one was more of a soft and fluffy texture like that stuffed inside a pillow.
