Ed Moses

Ed Moses focuses on the profound possibilities and challenges of abstract paintings. His personality makes him choose the unknown over the known, thus his works are experimental. Most of his works are repetitive, all-over patterns of non-cursive and vertical strokes.

Resin Paintings & Paper Pieces were structures of diagonal parallel lines that zigzagged from left to right. Achieving a balance between Read more →

@ danielle koh

Hello! For this project, I’ve tried a few techniques. The first one would be monoprinting which contributed significantly in creating the lines. They were produced digitally after scanning the prints.

After scanning the prints, they look like these! The trashbag seen above made the print shown in the picture below (on the top right corner).

other prints are created by taping scotch Read more →

I have enjoyed well organized and finalized the review of your process; you have combined your resources and artists with drawing successfully, resulting in a lively series of forms - in which emotion and line are fully integrated. Start working on project 2!

@ SYLVESTER

Hi there again! In this post, I’m gonna explore different techniques based on the artists that I’ve researched on! Let’s jump right into it!

Tara Donovan

Tara Donovan is an American artist who creates large-scale installations and sculptures made by everyday manufactured materials. Material such as Scotch tape, Styrofoam cups, Paper plates, Toothpick, and drinking straws were used to create large scale sculptures that often have a biomorphic quality. Read more →

great choices..please note one of my favorites Tara Donovan has developed amazing "sculptural" drawings before going into art-works, That are usually very large scale

@ SYLVESTER

Hey guys! Today I’m gonna show you a bunch of mono-prints I did in class! I did not take any photos of the process but I do have some cool prints to show you. I scanned all of them and some eventually make the cut for my 18 lines!

I brought some materials to class, hoping it Read more →

..if your self-made tools were "bones" of the project- these monoprints are definitely "flesh" to your emotion evoking concepts. Love the large optimum resolution of the monoprint for the OSS. Always check and avoid "thumbnail" size - as we have the unique opportunity to "see" all the details ("nerves and bloodstreams") that would have remained invisible in the hard copy monoprint.

Mark Making Tools

@ Glojira

For my first mark making tool, I wound up brown string onto a pencil.

For my second tool, I tied a string to a screw driver and dangled it over my paper. I quite liked this because the outcome is always somewhat unpredictable and that is exciting:)

For the 3rd tool, I combined a few of the brown strings together and Read more →

@ Lazybug's Anatomy

My mark-making tools are fountain pen and strings.

This mark is made by fountain pen and ink. I felt that using ink, I can express raw emotions (usually negative emotions). The contrast is strong and the saturation of the ink give desirable effect.

These marks are made with strings. Some of the marks I bounced the strings saturated with ink. I Read more →

Mark Making Tool and its results

@ Just around the Riverbend

For my mark making tool, I was interested in creating something that would allow me to experiment with Chinese Ink, as I wanted to explore the difference between the textures made by the Chinese paint brush versus a less versatile tool. This is the mark making tool I made out of a wooden stick I found on the ground. I shaved the sides Read more →
