@ Pumpkins Cats and Doodles

I had some idea of what a Zine is before this project, but mostly from the poets (?) on Tumblr, so I think they might be my biggest inspiration for this project.

I also looked around a bit on Pinterest, and I’m sure I picked up one or two ideas along the way, although there wasn’t anything particularly specific. So.

Making a Zine

@ Kapilan Naidu

Upon reading the brief, my first instinct was to try and create a publication based on all the works I had done this semester. However, I ran into some problems with trying to go this direction. The biggest of these problems was reconciling all the different works. This was an issue as the two big assignments, Points of View and Typographic Portrait, Read more →

When thinking of ideas for my zine, I knew I wanted to create one that featured animals, since both my project one and project two were about animals. One of the zine ideas that caught my attention on Pinterest was this:

@ Eureka!

Hi, for this project I want to incorporate elements from all the past projects that I did this semester. I decided to title my zine “Hello” which is also the first ever project that we did in Ina’s class this semester. Having the title Hello, I want the 8 pages zine to talk about myself and my traits.

I was pretty clueless about what’s a zine and how it looked like and how to go about doing it, so I went to pinterest to hopefully clear my doubts and pretty much, I found some zines that were interesting to me.

What interested me in this bee design was that while most zines were basically rectangular in shape, this Read more →

I got really inspired by this particular menu. I really enjoyed the fragility of the lines and how they make the vectors. The use of black and white colors yet using red really make the red pop. I eventually red pop by using red on the things I wanted to be the main focus of.

I was looking for inspiration for project zine and came across this Going Home Zine by Rachel Katstaller.

Tracing paper was used as pages in this zine, and it gave my some ideas for my own zine.

Since my POV projects were about pilot whales and how they’re viewed, I could use the tracing paper to include the POV Read more →

For this last project I decided to do an entirely new piece because I felt that I wanted to explore more ideas. Inspired by my previous ‘Depression‘ (click to view OSS post about it) piece from my Point of View project, I decided to do on imaginary lines. This topic was something I suddenly thought about and was Read more →
