@ Rene

My name is … and I am a nail artist

The plan to form this piece came purely from my interest in nail art and nail designs. To make things more interesting i decided to experiment with fake nails and try to paint on nail designs on top of the nail polish. I decided to go with the Read more →

It is good to draw inspiration from different sources! Having lots of ideas for each brief and do not worry to make perfect outcome. If you like nails -please consider even more risk taking by research into "ready made" For this page on OSS please consider - make your images bigger - try capturing the detail of the image as well ( for example take some close up without the black border) - double check your categories and subcategories - I do not see your project on my feed. We do not have category TYPOGRAPHY FINAL and PROCESS listed please see my posts to double check how to archive categories ( we can double check in class) - consider a hierarchy an arrangement and order of your images- they are missing caption or title: "My name is ...and I am...." - we do not need to read every paragraph- we need to have an option to immediately get your concept

@ DENISE WYY

My name is Denise and I’m Peranakan

I paired the baba (man) with a mata puteh (oriental white eye) to mimic the sentiment of old Singapore. Back in the day, these birds were admired for its singing quality/buka and the price  to appreciate a songbird’s chirp at home could range from $30-500.

The pairing of the Read more →

Nice presentation..please consider -make the featured landscape image bigger -do not include photo from the critique and the wall in 2D :) as it is not as impressive due to poor lighting conditions. -include caption or title from the assigned brief: "my name is...and i am..." :) This is very important to finalize presentation

Sem 2 AKA Return of the TRA$Hbin

My final series may be the most confusing thing cause a sudden change in ideas resulted in me dropping quite a few supposed “finals” and creating new “finals” on the spot. Anyway, I guess its for the better that I dropped the prostitute series since it fits better with the Read more →

I enjoyed your themes of thinking such as: "the patterns are the names... ...materials imitate type.. have type imitate materials too” Even though you have accumulated a lot of ephemera you have reduced the risk of inconsistencies or ambiguity! Your style appropriated from Craig Atkinson’s cut-&-paste collage method is an excellent choice. As well as putting brief upside down and taking the risk of not making silk presentation..I like the balance at the end...and sometime you can keep some make up too...just to make it more palatable for the masses – or not! Over the summer please try to take some time to look into your choice of styles origins- it would be useful to look -into Dada movement, Punk, Marcel Duchamp, Fluxus, John Cage and his Zen and I-Ching inspired work methods- that used combinations of chance operation in art - where one has to accept the risks as results of the process. http://www.blackmountainstudiesjournal.org/wp/?page_id=1286

All the Process.

Before this, as I was quite fixated on the illuminated manuscript idea, I was pretty determined to do all my designs by hand.

But. 2 problems quickly became apparent. Firstly, it appears my ability to paint are not on the caliber of medieval monks.

Secondly, I was uncertain about what to do with the backgrounds. Illuminated manuscripts also tend to either have Read more →

stunning process: I say this could be used for ZINE! all the way ..you have your final project done! please let's talk in class on this- and how you can recompose for zine... We can also address thinking in color and if ou could play with even more depth and sense of movement..which might require re-looking into tools...

After deciding on the symbols I could use, I started to combine some of them to explore the meaning or themes I wanted to fulfill with each design.

The experiments are mostly on the left, while the final 6 designs are on the right. I tried to push the meaning of each design as far as possible without distorting Read more →

These geometric and graphic symbols would be great for your Zine...as well as for Point of View!

For my final, I decided to go with the idea of the jobs/careers that I have taken up in a parallel world. I thought that it would be more interesting and whimsical as compared to simply creating works that spoke directly about my personality. The jobs I created hint not only to my interests but also to my character as Read more →

Lea great presentation- excellent drawings - excellent description of your process and final works. However, I would remove the very top photo of the final display in 2D corridor as it is not good documentation. The reason the photo is taken in a dark space and under the yellow light..we can not see anything from that image. We also can not read from your final photo any of the statements. Would it be possible to include captions with those statements under each of the original drawings? We can revisit this in class if you are not clear...:)
Please use your black and white larger images as a feature image for this post :) it would look nicer..:) do not use the final layout in 2D area- as it is not lit properly

These are my finalised works!

This is an overall view of all my four pieces.

My name is… and I am a triplet.

An introduction to myself would be a fun fact, and that is that I am a triplet. Hence, the number three is drawn. In the number, there are words from movies, games, traits, activities Read more →

You really made us understand your motivation, behaviours and wishes in this assignment! You clustered your ideas nicely based not only on your concepts but also as inspired by style and artists you have researched Here are some simple edits: -Please upload your thumbnails to appear bigger on his page. Even though they are linked to larger image- it would be more straightforward to have them bigger. - the description is good for each image but what is missing is the main caption: "My name is...and I am.." We have to read entire description to get the concept... - make the post images bigger and bolder! they are beautiful! - at the first occasion -SCAN your final works drawings at 300 dpi you can use it for your ZINE edit (Final Project)
one more thing to add: Please include featured image for each post :)

To start off this project, I decided to write about myself in terms of characteristics and personalities and likes and dislikes so that I would have a selection of attributes to choose from to present for this project.

Initially, I wanted to draw my own face and use words that describe my personality to form the image like Read more →

These are my three designs for HELLO. (I do not have the actual template so I drew out the template myself.)

The first design is just my name in my normal handwriting and a few fauna around it. I do love designs with nature as I find them to be very simple yet elegant at the same time, that was why Read more →
