@ Eureka!

For this exercise, we have to use our mobile phone to create a sequence dance steps to introduce myself. It should have a 3 act structure (beginning, middle and end).

In the first part, I want to show that I am cool and I like keeping up with trends. I like K-pop too.

walk \ home still images on video

the darkness, greater than light more often than not. the silence, so loud and clear every moment, every day.

i struggle to speak, my mind yet my mouth speaks words not of my mind but that of foreign words.

embraces never felt every time i try to reach emptiness is all i grasp your shadows lingering.

Lounge Room Tribalism

Graham Fletcher

2010

3x Oil on Canvas

My first impressions of this work were how in the midst of a modern-looking living room, tribal-looking masks, weapons and items had both a aesthetic synergy with the painting, yet were distinct enough that they contrasted with the rest of the images as much as they added character to them.

The images also seemed slightly Read more →

SALEH HUSEIN – ARABIAN PARTY (2013)

I never really quite liked visiting museums as I find them to be boring. However, when I first saw this piece of work, it sort of changed my opinion about museums partially. I really do love the medium used (acrylic) and this medium allows myself to be more relatable(?) to the work Read more →

A Travel Without Visual Experience: Malaysia

Tozer Park

2008

Room installation with travel photographs

My initial impression of the artwork was that it wanted to put the audience into the mind and perspective of the artist; The photos on the wall were taken using a camera flash, which was similar to the way the audience had to use their camera flash to see the Read more →

卷土重来: 记忆的投影 (Homeward Swirls: A Projection of Memory)

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iRFFjmDBWZM

Digital Video and Stopmotion, 04:55mins, 1280 x 720 pixels

When the swirls of imagination and memory coincide in incandescent flashes, will I still know every inch of home? I embark on a homeward swirl in a projection of memory to a most familiar yet unfamiliar version of my house. Have I awoke Read more →

Enjoyed the reflective piece of review with a keen read of the works. Enjoyed your discussion on the aesthetic choice and influence on communication for Chen's work and the connection you draw to link Motoyuki's work to your personal photographic work. I think the work also dram us to think about geographical boundaries marked symbolic representation of by history of colonial/ military powerand change.
