https://goo.gl/images/GBPka9 This frame from a comic strip is effective in illustrating the stance of tranquility that the Buddha stands for, through character interaction and body language. This excerpt serves as an interesting gateway into exploring the representation of Buddha in popular culture.

This book (along with many other historical figure biographies in the series) was one of my few favourite reads when I was younger. I really like the illustration style and the simple storyline that was broken down to be much more understandable for children. (Not sure if there is an English version of it, I can only find the Indonesian version I was familiar with.)

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Q9R-cqf6Pmk An animated video of the life of Buddha produced by the Penang based Animation School, The One Academy which retells the story of Buddha's quest to seek the truth, in this case, enlightenment. The quality of the animation is also really top notch so it's aesthetically pleasing to watch.

I like this image as it is a good summary of Buddha's life. The strip shows the birth, enlightenment (nirvana), giving sermons and discourse to the sangha and also the death or cessation of suffering.

Life of the Buddha I find that the way it is being illustrayed can be humorous but the way the Buddha is portrayed is quite realistic and treated like a prince as it is not disficured and it even has a halo around the head.

Buddha's first path and steps to enlightenment was how he discovered he wanted to change his own life for the benefit of others around him. That very moment that shook him was the most vitial and critical aspect of  how his beliefs started and guided those who believed in him and his teachings. Buddha's path to enlightenment

Animation: The School of Life: Eastern Philosophy https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tilBs32zN7I This is a great animation as it has the ability to reach a wide audience, and provides an interesting combination of philosophy and visual imagery, including images in a dynamic "cut-out" style. The series, The School of Life is a great resource for introductory  knowledge on topics such as the life of the Buddha.

This simple comic strip illustrates quite clearly the travels of the Buddha and his departure from the safety of the palace into the relative dangers of the outside world, beginning his ascetic life.

It is much easier to understand the beliefs when there is some comic relief.

Title: "Sorry! And the Nature of Suffering" (comic taken from here) I like how it shows the difference of Buddha's ways of thinking to the other people of the world in quite a humorous way :)

A comic strip about Buddhism, and not exactly on the life of Buddha. I like this form of visual representation as the form of portrayal captures the viewer's attention as irony and expressive drawings are used. Hence, making this form of visual representation more impressionable to readers.
(Edit) Calista Lee
[caption id="" align="alignnone" width="500"] Saint Young Men is an interesting slice-of-life take on a cartoon version of how everyday life is in modern times when Buddha goes on a touring journey in life with Jesus. ^^[/caption]
(Edit) Teng Yu Qing
I think it depicted the part of the story about Buddha's mother dreaming and how she gave birth to him. It was personally quite shocking to learn that dreaming about elephants when you're pregnant is something auspicious(?). In any case, I found it quite interesting how the "face of religion" are being given birthed to from women who had dreams about it.

http://sbt.blob.core.windows.net/storyboards/rebeccaray/buddha.png This is a really simple and summarised comic strip about the process of the life of Buddha. It is easy to understand and straight to the point that's why I like it.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pyywOi_xpfE I found this video on youtube. As a Thai, i grew up with a lot of Buddhism influences in Thailand. This video allows me to understand it clearer!

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tilBs32zN7I. This is a succinct story of Buddha's life and his philosophies. The short video used real life pictures with collage in it which makes it even more interesting and amusing to watch than other videos with only animation characters.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?gl=SG&v=nsN7NLs-0jI&hl=en-GB This is an animation that tells the story of The Life of the Buddha. I like it because it is related to what is shared during the first lecture and it helps me better remember Buddha's story. It also briefly mentioned the wheel of life and death, which I have encountered on a trip to a temple in Bhutan and I found interesting.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wErFGNxbw3M This is a nice and short animation which gives very good insight into the mind of Siddhartha (the birth name of the the founder of Buddhism, Gautama Buddha). This animation provides a quick recount what led him to renounce the world. Although it's a very short animation, the way it's paced and formatted makes it comfortable to watch and easy to understand.
(Edit) Gerald Chua
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nsN7NLs-0jI This animation best illustrates the life of Buddha in a short and concise manner. It briefly talks the wheel of Life and Death which would not bore the audience who wish to understand Buddhism in a summarised version.
(Edit) Jinyee
I like it because it is very inspiring. It's a simple quote that everyone can understand and learn something out of it.
(Edit) Josiah
I like this because, well- I made it. Beyond the fact that it is about a movie, this image and the quote speaks about contentment and "just being". The dude abides.
(Edit) JIALE Ng
This illustration about the life of Buddha was relatively easy to understand, as it was mean for primary students. It illustrates the important details in Buddha's life - from the day he was born, to attaining enlightenment and his death. I like this illustration because it is direct and straight to the point.
