FYP pt. x - Camera and the Room
Going deeper into the more cinematographic aspects of the process; I realized just how unaware I was that making a fully CG video can still be very rooted in reality.
From the start I knew that I would have to learn elements of graphic design to create a strong image, but for some reason I didn’t think of it more akin Read more →
Device of the Week 3: Project Soli - Controlling devices using hand gestures
Project Soli: Controlling devices using hand gestures
It is a gesture sensing technology by Google ATAP (Advanced Technology And Project group) for human-computer interaction. It uses miniature radar technology with sensors that will keep track of gestures made by human hands and fingers. The sensors track these gestures at high speed with detailed accuracy. It allows a rich variety of interaction. For Read more →
Pixels photobooth with sound interaction
So basically, I have combined what I have learnt over the course of this semester with this pixel patch. So you are able to view your pixelated face on the screen and as you move around the screen, 4 different sounds will play. And the trick is to get the photo taken. When you finally do, you will get the Read more →
Snapchat-ish filter (brad pitt assignment)
For this patch, alpha blending as it is is already quite a big thing to grasp. I played around with setting params whereby if we move around, the images on my face would change according to the x and y values.
Interactive II: FINAL
Presentation day setup:
Our homemade wands!
Projection on screen – we wanted to split the projection across all three screens initially, but were unable to calibrate all three of them. Hence, we displayed a foresty background on the other two sides!

MILESTONE: One week before submission!
Merging our animation into the particle system:
Our 3D animation and 2D particle system rendered in the same space, but on different planes.
After a long while of experimenting and figuring out the patch, we finally managed to render the animation in point mode. We extracted the location matrix of the animation and linked it with Read more →
Interactive II: #2 Milestones
WEEK 2 MILESTONES 4/4
What we achieved: We sourced around for patches related to particles and camera blob tracking. Of the two particle patches we found, the flow and behaviour of one was smoother than the other. However, we had some problems understanding the patch because it had many foreign objects and attributes involved. (jit.gl, mesh, render, jit.gen, jit.expr)

MEMORIES OF SOUND
Bao Song Yu & Zhou Yang
We tried testing our interactive installation at the concrete wall. Initially we used light sticks as the light source. We took screenshot of the colors of the light stick and got their values on Photoshop. We input the values into Max so it can detect the colors. However, Read more →

The following are the screenshots for the patch we did for our interactive installation.
The following is the video documentation of us trying out the Max patch. We used light sticks and several colored materials to test out the patch.

Max Assignment 5: Lozano-Hemmer’s Shadow Boxes + cv.jit.centroids Documentation
For the Lozano-Hemmer’s Shadow Boxes patch, I played around with the values to create different effects for the visual output. I combined a cv.jit.centroids patch with it to add sound effect to the overall patch. The following is the documentation for the combined patch. Enjoy! 😀
