Project 3: EGO

Final outcome

final

I had chosen the mixed media for this project, so I must have something to represent myself, or it will look like very messy. So basically this project all related with the eyes. At first I came out the idea is all design with my eyes, I tried to to with difference media, but what I drew out the eyes just look like a random draw one, so I decided to give up on this idea.

Part 4 (Final)

1) Anxious

1

Using monoprint technique with full of straight lines gives me a sense of anxious.

2) Embarrassed

2

This is a full set of contour lines and the medium I use is white pen, marker, watercolor and color paper. It was some lines hidden behind the paper, when you explore it, which is mean embarrassed.

3) Bizzare

3

It is a paper slider that shows me a sense of bizzare.

4) Exhausted

4

I felt exhausted when I was producing this emotion.

5) Fragile

5

The white part represent the meaning of fragment. The medium I used was soft pastel.

6) Systematic

6

It was a paper cutting that I was influenced by the Chinese paper cut. It was cut randomly to create difference pattern. At last, I arranged it in order to give a sense of systematic.

7) Lyrical

7

Fire gives me passion as it is very hot. For this emotion, I used the joss stick to burn the catridge paper and used some newspaper let the design not look like too simple.

8)Turbulent

8

The monoprinting pattern looks like a big waves, as someone was missing in it.

9) Nonsensical

9

Tools: Toilet paper roll.

10) Psychotic

10

I am tring to use a rope from a bag to create some natural curves.

11) Ambigous

11

Tool: Masking Tape

12) Distracted

12

13) Sensual

13

14) Sloven

14

15) Spontaneous

15

I just use pencil to create simple line and use eraser to erase it, to form the natural line

16) Aggressive

16

While using entangled threads to express aggression, the addition of flower makes it even aggressive.

17) Awkward

17

The media used are straws and poster colors. Drip colors on paper then blow straw to spread colors over the paper. What makes me feel interest is the awkward situation when the colors are being blown away yet they didn’t seem to move.

18) Indecisive

18

Reusing and modifying the monoprinting technique, the presence of discontinuous line express indecisice.

Reflection:

Thoughout the whole process, I have tried to use many medium that I never used before, I realised that different medium will produce different visual effects. I had so much fun and excitement while completing this project.

To me, it is a great experience.

Reflection:

I like the process when I am looking for inspiration by taking reference from the relevant artists. I not only can learn their skills in design and also can create new styles to express myself. I thought the most successful artist is not depend on their final effects or outcome of their artworks, but is he expressed successfully what he want to express.

Thanks Mimi for helping me on assignment 2, including the lecture and the consultant session given during the class,  it give me a chance to learn the basic knowledge of design principles and how to improve the weak point on my design. Thanks also to the boy boy who taught us Photoshop in class, it let me know more photoshop technic in the shortest time, untill the assignment was completed.
