Congrats everyone! we have reached the final project submission for 2D!! Thanks everyone for all the helpful comments and I wish you guys the best of luck for your upcoming major! =)
To kick start this post, lets start by giving a brief introduction to my zine book. I named it “Evolution” because its an expansion of the previous POV project. This zine, talks about my personal growing up stage in life from child to adulthood. I believed everyone always wants to be a hero when you are young and this very book reflects on the kind of naiveness I have when I was a child towards a more realistic dream.
Do checkout my sketchbook for all the processes before I being on this project. =)
After the sketch up, I begin by doing the cover page 1st. Since is about POV I think is relevant to use a camera as a lens over my eyes to capture the sort of memories I have since child birth. The Image will be split into several parts and will be digitally painted in photoshop.

Moving on to the next page, I have a childhood photo of myself painted in the middle of the composition. In order to make it less literal, I painted iconic cartoon figures of their arms and legs for the audience to guess the sort of Superheroes I admired.

Final Layout
As I grow older, I am more fascinated by the realistic superhero movies and hence I decided to paint a more realistic kind of superhero artwork but only parts of the facial features to hint the the sort of heroes that I admire.

Splitting up my facial features into 4
Painted the Superheros
Added a timeline
Final Layout
Sooner or later, as I aged. Instead of superheroes, I dream about becoming someone famous and it either be an entrepreneur like bill gates, singer like Adam Levine or even Actor like Johnny Depp. Hence, in this composition you will see me in the middle and the others being separated.
Sketch up
Final Layout
For the last page, I want to include a famous tagline about superheroes which I know through batman and end it off with a brief explanation of what this zine book is about.
Points for improvement from our prof. Joy:
- Make the timeline smaller and use a black coloured shape
- for the last page could have been better because the 1st 2 pages is forming up into one story
Reflection
This is my first time creating a zine book and find it really interesting. Through this project, I get to plan and execute any kind of ideas that I have in mind and choosing something personal like the pov is really fun and good to work on. Sad thing is, I can’t seems to get a good alignment for my zine book and while folding the page together tend to see misalignment or font issues. Even the printer is giving me problem when I went for test print at Peace center. All in all, this is really an enjoyable project and I want to take this opportunity to thanks our Prof. Joy for her comments and enthusiastic support towards crafting and finding our own style in 2D and I wish you all the best and have fun teaching in ADM!! =)
