Device of the week #3: Kissenger by Mixed Reality Lab (2017)

How it works

Embedded sensors in Kissenger

High precision force sensors are embedded under the silicon lip to measure the dynamic forces at different parts of your lips during a kiss. The device sends this data to your phone, which transmits it to your partner over the Internet in real time. Miniature linear actuators are used to reproduce these forces on your partner’s lips, creating a realistic kissing sensation. Kissenger provides a two-way interaction just like in a real kiss. You can also feel your partner’s kiss on your lips when they kiss you back.

I think this concept is interesting as it really addresses the distance between lovers and reconnects then with touch (of the lips). I can’t say anything about improving it but I think it is possible to make it by everyone in the interactive devices class. The concept is actually very simple.

How to make

Trigger of activate: Press down the ‘record kiss’ button

Input: Placement of lips to device and start kissing (sensing using precision pressure sensor)

Output: Moving the mini motors of the device the other person is holding
