I use the original graphic without adding any content for the cover page. Reason being is I want to simplify the layout of my content as most of my work are very loud and rather visually busy.
For layout
I draw inspiration from magazine in the 60s, use a rather minimalistic style for the content and the architecture of the page elements from the interiors spreads. The core colour of my background are black and floralwhite. I use salmon pink and sistine blue background for two pages to add in a pop of colour.
The graphics in my zine are displayed on full page like the ad pages. I leave plenty blank space as most of my spreads are graphic-heavy and I want to leave the pages feeling balanced and unobtrusive.
For the content
First question comes to my mind is what are the main conceptual and visual approaches that I want to share with others?
I break it down into 4 section:
- Background of myself
- Personal style
- 1st year experience and reflection: favourite project
- Summary and goals for the next 3 years.
