CONCEPT Unbearable lightness (possibly still a working title, until I come up with something better… or not) is a series of photographs based on Milan Kundera’s classic 1984 novel, The Unbearable Lightness of Being.
ORIGINAL IMAGE I didn’t really have anything in mind while shooting the landscape, but came across this late night porridge place somewhere in Tiong Bahru.
CONCEPT The central idea behind this portrait was to emulate the style, composition, and general vibe of vintage Shanghai studio portraits that generally feature women looking into the distance.
APPLICATION #1: POSTER VARIATION While I was adding noise to the illustration I found that it created this really nice, desaturated effect!
After some discussion in class, I decided to pick the orange masthead because it adds to the whimsicality of the piece.
