Colours are great things, you all. They add vibrancy and character and are a form of non-verbal communication – often the most straightforward and effective way of conveying a mood or a feeling. Listed below are the most common colours, and what they symbolise. Of course, everyone perceives colour differently, but this is what I see when I see colour.
Red is aggressive. It jumps out at you from road signs. Red is danger, red is warning, and red is urgent. But red is also the colour of passion, blood, and loyalty (just look at the national flag).
Orange is the colour of the fruit. Was the fruit named after the colour, or was the colour named after the fruit? Orange is the colour of autumn, and therefore it signifies abundance, and a sense of comfort and homeliness and contentment.
Yellow reminds me of ducks. Yellow is enthusiastic, playful, optimistic. Yellow is carefree and yellow is a nice colour to be.
Green is the colour of nature and lush expansive rainforests. Green is kindness, and vitality, and growth. Green is the colour of life.
Blue is serene. Blue is soothing to the eyes and blue is calm and peaceful and worth a good night’s sleep. Blue is graceful and agreeable and a dependable friend.
Purple is my favourite colour (for now, at least). It is free and expressive and doesn’t care what you think. Purple is creative but purple can also be mysterious and enigmatic and neither good or evil.
Pink is cutesy and innocent. Pink is compassionate and cries in theaters. Pink is sensitive and loving and feminine.
