Human + Museum Visit

It was an eye opener at the Arts Science Museum which currently holds the Human+ exhibition. The exhibition touched on concepts such as the boundaries between a human and a robot; nowadays, humans are trying to be more like robots whereas on the other hand, robots are trying to be more like human.

As a fan of Ghost in the Shell (CyberPunk Robot Anime), some of the installations were particularly fascinating and intriguing, touching deep down into our thinking. Stellarc was an extremist in his work as he actually grew a ear in his arm. LP Deemers artwork was fascinating as well from the fact the multiple servos and motors controlled the movement and reflex of the eyeballs which were determined by optical sensors.

Overall, i felt that this field trip helped me to gain and idea and inspiration into what i want to do for my project.

Interactive Media – Week 1

Kinetic Sculpture of varying shapes

The rotation of the artwork itself gives rise to a fascinating amount of patterns and variations as shown in the video.

The various mechanisms that interact with each other shows the precision and craftsmanship required to pull of this masterpiece and that is why i am pleased by it.

Invisible Oled TV

I was fascinated by how much technology has evolved to enable a piece of transparent material to function as an visible display monitor. The fact that such a project has been done gives way to many possibilities for media in the near future.
