Thinking Sequentially – Text and Image

“Fire and Ice

Some say the world will end in fire,

Some say in ice.”

Not taking the meaning for fire and ice literally, we took the meaning of ‘chance’ in the poem whether it ending in fire or ice as the act of flipping a coin and getting heads or tails.

“From what I’ve tasted of desire

I hold with those who favour fire”

The sun represents the burning desire the arm wishes to achieve and grab hold.

“But if it had to perish twice,

I think I know enough of hate”

With already one arm letting go of the arm’s that needs help, it would be hateful that the arm holding on decides to let go a second time evoking a sense of pain and distrust like in the poem.

“To say that for destruction ice

Is also great

And would suffice.”

Showing the desperate need to hold on to just about anything for support that even something dangerous like the pen knife is suffice. Despite knowing it will harm the person.
