Device of the week: Stellar

Stellar (2015) is an interactive installation by Francesco Fabris that involves people to engage with the installation by hovering their hands over the sensor which is the black circular disc on top. The metal hands branching out from there will follow the movement of your hands.

There will be a light shining from the arm to the board of constellations itself. When it is on a specific constellation, there will be information being sent out via sound. Information like – Temperature (frequency), brightness (amplitude), and distance (duration).

Interesting thing:
The ability to convey information based on sound and the accuracy of pinpointing the constellation based on motion tracking alone.
The idea that the hand of the installation moves according to where the people’s hand is on the board itself.
