Week 4 Homework – “A Perfect Day for Bananafish” 2 interiors

For our homework this week, we had to do 2 perspective drawings from the story A Perfect Day for Bananafish. These 2 interiors were Muriel’s room and the elevator.

Before I got started, I read through the story again, trying to figure out the important details that could tell me how the room/ elevator could possibly look, because Salinger was quite descriptive in the story. Taking the time period into consideration, I started looking up furnitures in the 1940s and did my research.

Final Interior – Elevator

For the elevator scene, there were actually 3 characters – Seymour, the woman who supposedly looked at his feet and the girl operating the cabin.
