3D Object (Week 1)

The object I chose is a saxophone ornament. This ornament clearly shows the relationship between Dominant, Sub-dominant, and Subordinate.

The Dominant(D) is the saxophone itself. It occupies the largest volume. The support that  holds the saxophone upright is the Sub-dominant(SD). The Subordinate(SO) of this object are the crystals that enhances the charm.

However, the ratio of the volumes of SD and SO seems like they are inverted. The SD has the least volume compared to D and SO. SD complements D very well that the volume that it occupies becomes negligent. Moreover, SD is supporting the weight of D and SO and this shows the vital role that it plays in the composition of this object.

  1. Hi Hana
For a moment I thought you played the saxaphone! Do you? Interesting & keen observation. The humble ” backstage” role of the SD versus the rather ” showy & glittery” SO that might just need to be scaled down a little. Try to draw inspiration from this 3D object when creating your Final Rectilinear Model.
