My creative response is inspired by the fallen leaves and twigs along the pavement I walk by as I commute back and forth from home everyday.
I made this pattern with the concept of safety in mind – the imagery of the branch fence being both a form of protection and restriction.
Most Singaporeans of my generation grew up with sheltered lives – having a roof over our heads, access to clean water, affordable education (at least up to secondary school) and many other things we sometimes take for granted.
This could be a double edged sword for us, like a fence – it could protect from harm but also prevent one from experiencing the greater world outside our safety zones.
Oh this is beautiful! I love the details of the leaves. I also like how the fence grid makes the tiling pop
Sihuiii I love the context you had in mind and how the color of the greenery reflects the feeling of safety. I want this as my wallpaper!
teach me how to make like this eh senpai!! the textures and muted colours make me feel soft sad things. and so meaningful :’3
Interesting concept! I love the details, could totally see it being used as a wallpaper! 😀
Wah, I like the illustrations! Despite the natural style of the drawings, there’s a sense of balance created by the branches 🙂 Very nice!!
I like where you got your inspiration from haha! Your illustration style and colours applied really brings out the art nouveau style!
I really enjoy the concept and the painterly style you used to approach this assignment.
