Assignment 1: Research and Process

I did Andree’s world of lost things. Found it really really interesting, and completely new. A bit mind-blown and all because there’s so much abstract stuff to it. And it had a very dark feel to it, which made me quite interested. heheh.

Look and feel of his world (to me)

While reading Andree’s world about a world of lost things, I read that the world was in a house with many corridors, an endless house of rooms if you would. And immediately, 2 things popped into my head: HARRY POTTER and MATRIX RELOADED (jengjengjenggg).

Because both had elements of Andree’s concept. Or more like the other way round, Andree’s concept had elements from both films. So this made it easier to find examples to visualise what the story and setting would look like.

So for Harry Potter, the small tents in the movie had so much room in them.

The next thing I thought of was the endless corridor of the Matrix Reloaded scene.

The narrative

So while trying to brainstorm how i wanted to portray the story, I thought of those Black Box recordings that planes always had. And also those video diaries movies like Avatar had. I wanted to re create something of that sort. But instead of video, my character would make voice recordings. This would be how the story will be told.

So rather than having normal story being told with a narrative, it’ll be just like a WRITTEN audio diary (the irony hor). But i thought it’d make it an interesting perspective.

Reflection:

This assignment was a pretty difficult one. I had a mental block for the longest time, and I just couldn’t come up with any story. I think maybe Andree’s story is toooooo interesting and abstract, and too limitless to the point that I was just lost (HAHAHAHAH ironic, cos the story is about a lost world).

Up till now i’m still trying to figure out how to better my fan fiction based on his world.

Difficult sia.
