Typebot: a robot with the basic purpose of typing out words on a keyboard.

Typebot taught me a lot of things I had previously assumed about robotics:

  • Materials and construction methods matter. Typebot was jury-rigged together with leftover wood, tape and blu-tack. It ended up being extremely unstable and did not have the structural strength to actually type.
  • Programming a robot is a very back-and-forth process. As an animator I am used to creating animations, and then rendering them. However with a robot it’s very trial and error and you have to constantly change your code to adjust its movements/
