4D | Project 3 IV

Hello guys I’m back!

Just to refresh your memory, my film is going to talk about how urbanisation has affected the natural quiet of our nature, that the silence is starting to become an endangered species. Throughout all the chaos that we go through everyday, be it sound or light, we are slowly losing the silence of our universe.

Here are some ideas on how I’m planning to film my project:

Idea #1

  • One shot film of the sea
  • Slowly, overlay the Urbanisation sound over the waves till you can’t hear the sea
  • The sound is escalates from quiet (nature) to urbanisation (eg. mrt, people, constructions) which gets noisier and noisier
  • Audio becomes louder and louder and comes to an abrupt stop
  • Voice over or a frame with text saying – “Do you hear me”
  • “Do you hear me” refers to the natural quiet (sea waves)
  • This film is very audio focused and is to to show how Urbanisation is slowly overpowering the natural silence of our universe which is slowly vanishing.

Idea #2

  • The contrast of sounds
  • To film nature scenes like trees, leaves, insects, lizards to show the “quiet” side
  • The twist is to overlay the scene with urbanisation sounds. Eg. A scene with a snail crawling but with an mrt sound overlaying it
  • This is to show how urbanisation is overpowering the nature’s silence.
  • To film urbanisation scenes like mrt, buses, shopping centres, construction areas etc etc.
  • However, the audio is being overlaid with nature sounds like birds singing, crickets sound, frogs etc
  • This is to show give the message of: what if we have “silence” in our world?

Idea #3

  • Start with sea scene or a forest shot
  • The beginning of the film will have a few shots of nature to show the “silence” first
  • The following scenes will be urbanisation – it starts slowly and quietly, and it escalates to louder and louder type of urbanisation.
  • Ends with the loudest scene and an abrupt stop
  • With a frame saying “Do you hear me” – maybe the frame should have birds singing and cricket sounds in the background(?)
  • In consideration: to overlay music in the background for a more dramatic effect

After consulting with Robert, he mentioned that it would be better for the forest as my starting scene because the sea represents freedom than nature. So yep, I’ll be executing Idea #3, which is basically from the natural silence to urbanisation scenes. So stay tuneeeee!
