This is the photo that I decided to use for the nightscape. The lights create a beautiful contrast to the overall darkness of the photo and I think it adds a touch of “mysticism” as well. For the painting, I tried to use similar colours as the photo. The lino cut is inspired by Japanese folklore and mythology. Depicting a scene of a young kitsune(nine-tailed fox), gazing up at the moon where an adult fox hugs it. The night scene also shows stylised clouds, hitodama(will-o-wisps) as well as lanterns floating in the sky to emphasise on the Japanese style. Our young kitsune has finally grown up and become an all powerful being.
