WHEN WE ALL LIVE TO 150, 2012

It’s a imaginary dystonia future where everyone is able to live till 150 years old due to tech and scientific developments. How would people live and communicate with one another. It gives us the notion that it would be unsustainable due to the large number (4 generation under one roof). She redefines social construct, like the notion of marriage would not be a “till death do us apart” but instead ” a 30 year contract.

Materials used, Book, Pictures and an elaborate Family Tree.

Preliminary Read:

Science and Tech could make up a family of almost 4 generation that could change the way people in the family react and communicate.

Secondary Read:

The text in this case gave me more details and layers to my understanding of how it goes down as there wasn’t any major shift in understanding.

Artwork II : Agatha Haines

TRANSFIGURATION, 2013

We were presented with clay models of babies that are imagines to have undergone surgical procedures to improve sustainability in the world and you become more advanced as a human than the rest. Artist tries to question how far we would/could go to give our child an advantage, Do they have their (babies) consent?

Materials used, Clay Models

Preliminary Read:

Thought they were implants that would help these babies survive as they were at a disadvantage.

Secondary Read:

Shift into thinking that they are modifications.

What could be done to improve:

Add another layer of elements to make it more explicit that these are modifications to clear up the confusion.
