What in stored in wet markets aren’t just variety and affordable fresh selections, these are the spaces that has communal experience, a microcosm of Singapore’s multi-cultural society, the part and parcel of the Singaporean way of life.

As I was expanding my understanding in the vanishing places, another aspect of “tradition v. developed” that linked to the former research was the relevance of wet markets in Singapore development.

Supermarkets are the biggest factors to that make new generations less keen of entering traditional wet markets. In term of convenient, ambient and many more factors to consider, wet markets are becoming obsolete with the developed of much better options. But for one thing, wet markets aren’t just warmer than air-conditioner supermarkets, the people at the wet markets are too, much warmer.

The fact that wet markets are declining isn’t cause by low demands, but there just not enough people that are willing to take the ropes. Not just locally, many Asia’s counterpart also suffer the pattern. But there are promising case studies such as those in Taiwan, that prove this traditional business model is still relevant
