Some Research for Typography

I went to Pinterest to look for typography inspiration!

In all honesty, I never really got into typography. I do like looking at it (and get very jealous and sad that my handwriting is absolutely terrible), but I was never compelled to do anything related to the field. So this was a good chance to expand my horizons and take look at what some people were doing (and hopefully get inspired)

I searched for ‘weird typography’ and ‘unconventional typography’ and got the images you see below!

This work was very interesting and definitely the most personal of all the type I saw, because it was made up of fingerprints.

A series by Andreas Scheiger, the Alphabet Anatomy was shown to me by one of my friends! The concept of letters being living creatures was really cool and somehow appealingly grotesque.

This is the Animal Alphabet by Marcus Reed. I love this because I tend to be more illustration-based, so the concept of combining figurative elements with typographic one was very inspiring!

I liked the idea of using flowers to create the letters. Not to mention it was done beautifully (the linework is gorgeous)

from a distance, this looked like a geometrical 'A' that was made up of various criss-crossing lines. I actually glanced at this and had to scroll back up to take a closer look. Upon closer inspection, I realised that this was meant to be an 'A' that was made up of different telephone poles and wires.

I loved the colour scheme for this work and the clean lines! It's a building or machine of some sort, but the type has been integrated into the design and created something that looks very clean and graceful.

This was one of the more interesting typography examples that I saw on pinterest- created out of hands and fingers. It looked very intriuging and somehow a little creepy.

This looked like it was made out of fuzz of some sort, and I was very inspired by the unconventional use of material to make the letter!

Back to illustrative typography, the idea of combining the text and the image is more obvious in this image.

This was one of my favourites. It was very unconventional, looking very gross and beautiful at the same time. I was very taken by how tactile it was and how it seemed to be dripping. (It almost seems alive)

(It almost seems alive- probably because of the composition and the items used) Taken from http://artfucksme.com/did-not-see-him-at-the-offf-carl-burgess/

This work made the image a part of the letter instead of the other way around, and I like how clean and illustrative it is.
