Exploring Pinterest is exciting, so here’s part 2 of more research material!

(Taken from: https://www.pinterest.com/pin/56928382765990664/) This is similar to the 'P', but flowers make up the entire ampersand instead of circling it. I think it's a nice reference to look at in terms of making a letter entirely out of a particular element.

(Taken from: https://www.flickr.com/photos/depressionpress/2656552025/in/set-72157603155428123) The ornate design is simpler in this example, but it still looks impressive due to its size and use of linework.

(Taken from: http://www.lettercult.com/archives/2314) A little simpler than the other works, but I liked the elegance of the design! The use of colour and lines is simple and utilising depth in this way was something that the others did not really deal with as much.

(Taken from: https://www.behance.net/gallery/Chalk-Alphabet/7076837) I really like the idea of white-on-black (will potentially try this out soon!) The type is also very pretty (Fat letters are better to me in terms of being able to mix them with figurative elements)

This is the full version of one of the letters I talked about in a previous post! (Taken from: http://tanuntipw-vintage.tumblr.com/post/439418763/via-griptape)

(Taken from: https://typesoftypography.wordpress.com/page/17/) I kind of want to do something more ornate (because of the mythology theme), but I also want to add in more figurative elements. EIther way, I thought that it would be good reference to have some ornate typography to look at (and see if I can meld both elements together!)

I liked the use of both ornate designs and the animal-ish motifs surrounding the letter! (Taken from: http://ilovetypography.com/)

(Taken from: http://whimwhimsy.blogspot.sg/2011/07/pretty-picture-painted-lady-typography.html) A more whimsical design- I like the use of colours! It comes off as very English- possibly because of the colour and design.

A design by Si Scott (Taken from http://www.noblahblah.org/tag/typography/) I love the idea of using the figure of the rat to encompass the patterns and I was thinking this would be really nice to try out!

(Taken from: http://webdesignsurvivalist.com/inspiration/inspiration-50-typography-designs/) Other than illustrative works, I'm also very drawn to ornate, detailed works. I loved the line-work for this and it gave me a couple of ideas on what I could do for this project!

  1. fantastic resource..in particular to complement your style of drawing: big letter A with animated characters is really nice. Hope you are happy with your findings and can fit more with your style of drawing. Enjoy all samples very much as i can see your style of drawing building upon these.
