Explanation

The main concept of this 90 images is to address social issues. Everybody has a dream of being who they want to be and what they want to be, in this case it is becoming a POP Star. It shows the challenges from society faced by the individual in becoming who they want to be, in achieving their dream. Be it personal habits, appearance, race, sexual orientation and religion.

The video is split into 3 acts. Act 1 is Condemnation, where the individual receives negative feedbacks and being put down. In the end he could not take it any longer and screams out loud. Act 2 is Repulsion, where the individual ignores all the hate and just go ahead doing what he wants to do and achieve. Tearing up society’s point of view and rebelling against the norm. Finally act 3 is embracement where the individual achieves his dream. He enjoys the moment and celebrates.

This video is important as many teenagers now a days have low self-esteem and low confidence. It does not matter what society thinks of you and what society wants you to be. You just have to be who you are, believing in yourself and embracing it. Everybody is perfect in their own way and nobody have the right to say that you are wrong. Just be who you are.

Inspirations

The images are inspired from K-Pop fashion and music videos. They signify Pop culture now and everybody can be who they want to be. Specific music videos include CROOKED by G-Dragon and LOSER by BIGBANG.

Reflections

I felt that this project allowed me to express myself and show the ideas I have to address social issues and norms. It is important for every individual to know that they are beautiful and they just have to be who they are. Haters are just going to hate and you cannot avoid it. I enjoyed myself doing up this project and it was really fun.
