Final. Lives Within a Cave

Lives Within a Cave is the final installation to my original Life Tunnel. The concept continues to represent obstacles in our lives. For the final I took a bigger approch by adding additional lighting, audio sound effects and projection mapping onto the surface. All the effects made the installation come to life the surroundings gave the feeling of actually being immersed in a cave.

With more time and an unlimited budget I would have done certain things differently. First I needed a room 10 times the size, with that I would like to have 15-20 floor to ceiling clothes of fabric each with their own projector. I would like to add in real-time sound effects that really have the audience involved, by using a sounds system to echo their voices.

Other then that I was satisfied with the overall outcome. The documentation is provided bellow.

Life Tunnel

The life tunnel is an interactive performance installation. The art piece consists of 11 large pieces of hanging paper, each paper containing its own unique rip in the center. A clear wire hangs them so they give the illusion of floating. Life Tunnel is a reflection of our lives, going through the tunnel the audience must adjust their bodies in order to fit through the rips in the paper. It represents the obstacles in life that we can not change and as challenging as it is to get by, we have no choice to but to adapt to our surroundings and keep moving forward.

For my future extension of this project I wish to enlarge the exhibit using a different medium with added lights and sounds.
