My soundscapes: what I interpret sound to be through materials.
UNPLEASANT SOUND – construction
Construction noises always just seem to find a way and derail my train of thought. While I really appreciate construction workers and all the hard work they do, I can’t tolerate the sound no matter how hard I try. The sound literally gets under my skin and irks me!
PLEASANT SOUND – insects
I love the sounds that insects make at night!! It just breaks the otherwise eerie silence. And eerie silence creeps me out. Insect sounds are also what I hear to sleep, basically it’s the sound I’ve learnt to associate with resting and peacefulness!
For our in class assignment, we were tasked to do the same thing, but with brown paper!
UNPLEASANT SOUND – SUPER ANNOOYYYING BIRD
This is the sound of a Koel bird which can be heard everywhere in Singapore (ESPECIALLY IN THE MORNING!!!!!). Like how are you guys so energetic in the morning?!!!! And why are you disturbing my rest?!!!! I’ve learnt to associate this sound as my alarm clock, super disrupting and extremely annoying.
PLEASANT SOUND – SWEEPING/ RAKING
The sound of raking always brings good memories!!! Reminds me of when I am able to sleep in and the gardener comes around and sweeps away all the dry leaves. It’s also such a calming and therapeutic sound!
