Week 1: Watercolour Landscape Hall 8

Composition/Colour trials:

Decided to work with one colour- Burnt Sienna.

Switched to a flat brush instead of a round for easier control of architecture painting. Trying out black and ultramarine hues as well.

Final Composition:

Actual outline sketch of composition; Trying to lead the viewer’s eyes to the halls using the shelter roofs.

Tried to assign numbers for tonal values. (1 being darkest and 5 being lightest.)

Final painting using flat brush, with variation of hues by adding ultramarine or burnt sienna.

Feedback: Picture too dark, variation between values too less.

  1. When u work with one color, normally less chromatic colors are easier to use because the chromatic difference will not affect you. We will work more with negative and positive shapes and you will see the relationship. Right now u are less sensitive to the interactive shapes.
