Journal : Week 1

Last week, we learned about different learning styles from Sir Ken Robinson. How do you best learn?

Learning is a complicated concept as everyone is unique in their own way, and learns in their own way as well. Therefore, we can be classified into different categories such as Visual Learners, Auditory Learners, Verbal Learners and Kinesthetic Learners.

When asked what is the best learning style I have, I am not quite sure actually. To me, we all probably fall into each category, depending on the learning that is taking place. Some topics are better by a particular style and a combination of multiple styles helps to solidify the learning that takes place. Hence, I believe we should strive to create a learning experience that engages a variety of these styles.

As for myself, I am a combination of Verbal and slightly Visual when it comes to topics with a very heavy content. I prefer using words, both in speech and in writing, to assist my learning. With the addition of visuals at the side like sketches, diagrams and tables, I believe I am able to understand the content more in depth.
