[Narrative Interaction] Inspiration – A State of War

A State of War (http://www.fornasetti.com/history)

An interactive website to to commemorate the centenary of World War 1

Currently, I have difficulties trying to ‘unify’ my visuals (illustrations) so I was looking around for websites with similar theme as mine. I came across this ‘A State of War’ website and thought that it has an overall unifying look using minimal colour scheme : black and white, desaturated or sephia images.

Although I am executing my visuals in an illustration form, the example here made me consider using minimal colour scheme such as sketches and dull splashes of colours.

In terms of interactivity, I loved how the flow was dynamic that I had a great time navigating through the site. I could decide whether I wanted to view the stories, read the letters or listen to the audio.

I was captivated by the letters they displayed on the site. Since they were original images from the World War, I was curious to see their handwriting and what they wrote about during that time.
