Assignment 2A – Object (Task 1)

Task 1

This task required us to chose an object and draw them in a scale. For mine, I chose a penknife and did a 1:1 scale as my object could fit nicely in an A4 sheet of paper.

We were made to do front, top, and side sketches of our object to better visualise its detail for our two-point perspective drawing.

These are pictures of my penknife.

These are scanned copies of my drawings to scale:

And to be honest, I still was not completely sure of how to do a two-point perspective drawing so I had to google and find reference pictures

But this was still hard for me to understand. Luckily, I found this article that helped me a lot: https://thevirtualinstructor.com/twopointperspective.html

This was my final outcome:

  1. Ortho drawings
    – A good attempt with the drawings. Place some different lineweights in future to help the drawing stand out.
    Perspective
    – Whilst the angle and the step-up of the view looks ok, the proportion of the pen knife looks entirely off. It looks too tall for the width that you have drawn. Please discuss this with me in class.
