Roaster Bin Conceptualization

Reflection:

I think what I took away was really the exploration of different software and how it combines with other areas of design to make the eventual product a whole. While the use of coding poses much difficulty to us in terms of understanding the code and finding the code, the fact that Arduino is an open source software really helps us to be able to do some self-learning and exploration which is something I truly enjoy. It was also very satisfying to see how our modified codes worked the way we wanted them to.

However, I also realize how important is it to create a correct setting to provoke our audience and set the interaction at the right pace and push our audiences to do certain things. It is not just the process of making the bin or making the code work, but it is a whole process of finding out how we can make our audience interact with our product in the best manner and achieve what we set out to do.

If time permitted, we would have actually liked to link the programming with Twitter as well as printing out the images we captured in order to solve the issue of the images captured being overwrite and keeping track of the offenders just like a town council. Overall, we really enjoyed the project and we definitely enjoy seeing our audiences respond and interact with our bin while getting ROASTED.

Project 2: Zine (Part 3: Final Presentation)

Final Presentation Bedok Zine

I hope that after reading this zine, it would make your heart go BE-DOK BE-DOK!!!

Thank you to my Classmates, Friends and especially so to Mimi for helping me grow through this journey for this semester!

Comments:

“Love the seamless pages even though both pictures were not from the same location. The portrayal of Bedok left me wanting to explore the location more.”

“Wind can be expressed through the blowing/rustling of the trees!! I like how poetic it is, love the minimal style, simple. Maybe spacing can be better.”

“Good narrative overall. Notice a well use of perspective. Ends with a summary of the narrative like a storyboard which is excellent.”

“I really like your font work!! Feel like it’s a subtle way back to what you presented during your research! I really like the overall narrative of your zine and the moods. It flows quite nicely.”

“Good use of text placement, reading was smooth & effortless. Concept is obvious through copywriting. Good attempt at cubism style.”

“Like the poems and the overall vector design. But felt that the cover page was a different style from the rest.”

“The poem is deep and touching. I like the poem more than the graphic HAHAHAHA!”

“Can really feel the sentiment through your poem love it :)”

“Beautiful illustations, Malika vibes. Good improvement and poem gives rhythm and flow. Sad ending though :(“

“Hey Good job! I love your poem 🙂 You have improved a lot, well done!”
