2D analysis of Final Planes and Mnemosyne Scent Device

For this post, it will include both the final analysis of my final planes to follow up with the previous 2D analysis of the previous models. At the same time, the Mnemosyne Scent Device created is also documented here.

Final Plane Models

Scent Device

Pleasant Scent: Kodomo Shower Gel Series

Unpleasant Scent: Detol Antiseptic Solution

Through this, I hoped to bring about a real life image of my scents in order to allow people to see them. Furthermore, I felt that a challenge I faced was the use of the heat gun where I was uncertain of where exactly it would curl towards, resulting in several designs that were unsuccessful.

Understanding planes, axis and 2D Analysis and scents

Understanding the types of 2D axis planes and 3D planes

2D analysis of the different models using the idea learnt from above

Model 1

Improvements and errors:

1. Tapering should be done more gradually.

2. For D, it should be more propped up to give a “floating” effect.

3. SD may seem too long, hence change the area of wedging to result in a shorter SD.

Yellow coloured lines indicates the changes that are to be made for the final models.

Model 2

Improvements and errors:

1. Tapering should be done more gradually.

2. The SO should be moved to the void area.

3. Change it such that they are not all curvey eg. SO can be straight.

Yellow coloured lines indicates the changes that are to be made for the final models.

Model 3:

Improvements and errors:

1. Tapering should be done more gradually.

2. Increase the length of the SD by making use of thirds.

Yellow coloured lines indicates the changes that are to be made for the final models.

Bringing in my Pleasant and Unpleasant scents

For the next post, it will include

  • Final 2 models (Model 1 and Model 3) made after improvements as seen in the 2D analysis indicated by the yellow lines.
  • Final model made of Plastic to showcase my Pleasant and Unpleasant scents in a visual format as well as the process of it.
