Candice Ng

I was looking through Candice’s work and it was interesting to see how she makes use of technology to illustrate her concepts.

I will attempt to answer this question.

How does Candice Ng’s work contribute to the ongoing public discussions about identity, in the context of Singapore and South-East Asia?

I think Candice tries to question identity by amalgamating two very different elements together. One is a material which has a long history, ceramic and another, the RFID  which had been discovered in 1935 . It was interesting to see how her work explores identity in this digital age. The fusion of the old and the new

Instagram as a medium for art

Interesting concept that this artist used her instagram as a platform to perform. It “fooled” many and she gained alot of followers fast. She must have planned the pictures that she wanted to post very carefully so as to create a narrative and construct a identity.

One Punch Man’s success story

One Punch Man, Comic Author: One, anime directed by Shingo Natsume at Madhouse and written by Tomohiro Suzuki

I really love the sucess story of one punch man as it started out as a web comic with really (pardon me) shitty drawing. But when it was done into an anime, the animators really did a great job and managed to push one punch man to one of the most popular animes even though it had only 12 episodes for its first season. It is the product of passionate artists doing their best and also, a result of web animators collaborating  with each other.
