Mac Miller – Self Care

In this music video, it starts off with a side view of Mac Miller who places himself in a coffin. In these four walls, it is easy to understand that he is feeling trapped within. What makes it seem more cramped is that the video is being shot at very close proximity, that makes viewers perceive that there is only so much space that is allowed for the camera to fit in and for this to be shot.

Towards the end of the music video, he starts to emerge from a pit of ash (probably from his cigarette) and frees himself, showing how he managed to release himself from probably an emotional turmoil that he had been trapped in.

I think that this music video broadly reflects our current society, in which the idea of self-care is coming to light and more people are gaining knowledge and know the importance of self-care.

While this is a music video which does not provide any immersive aspects, I think that it provides with an efficient concept (even though it was an extremely simple set up) that helps viewers to relate to his story.

Study – Physical Space

Momentum – Untitled Visual Artists
an immersive installation that combined light, sound, and movement.

In this installation, the way that the installation is built in a curvature allows the viewers to perceive a never-ending space in which they will continue to crawl into. Combined together with the pendulum-inspired light from the above, in this entirely dark space, the light provides a seemingly foggy atmosphere that intensifies the ambiance within the area.

This entire experience is further amplified by the height of the space. As the area is as high as 6-metres tall, it provides greater space and depth that causes audiences to drown within the work.

The light pendulums that hung from the top sometimes moved in unexpected ways, and since viewers were invited to explore the room at their own pace, every viewer that experienced this would have left with a different experience. The shadows that were cast by the viewers, as well as the different group of viewers that would interact with them ultimately formed a different outcome each time.

Singapore Pools

Considering that Singapore is quite a fast-paced and stressful society, with relatively high living standards/expenses, you would find many of us trying to get our shot at a big break by buying one of these lottery tickets in order to get lucky and strike!!! And I think it’d be quite funny to have this up as a lot of us are familiar with this.

FYP Proposal / Project Description – Grown Up

In a modern society that is so busy and fast paced, many of us are absorbed in our ‘present’s than to be planning for our “future”s. While information is just at the tip of our fingers, we do not realize the importance and need for all this information, and when the time comes, we are unprepared. Hence, This project is an informative role-playing game application targeted for youths, to prompt and provide them with relevant information in a more fun and engaging way, to transit into the adult world.
